"Wallflower" Print

When you first come out, there’s often a deep longing to be a part of the community. The community tends to be close-knit, resembling small families. Ones that have been established for years and in some cases decades. Finding your own “family” can be difficult and lonely, leaving you with a sense of not belonging and feeling out of place. This feeling inspired my piece titled “The Wallflower.” I have often found myself on the sidelines, feeling disconnected and alone. I've learned that this sentiment is common among many people in the community who have yet to find their own “family.”
